Expanding knowledge

Research is a fundamental pillar of UTAMED's activity and the university seeks to generate a clear and significant impact on society, guarantee the effective transfer of knowledge focused on our programmes and the professional development of the teaching body.

Top-level international university with a focus on research

UTAMED is a university with a clear focus on research and seeks to position itself as a top-level international research centre. UTAMED's research activity is inspired by six axes:

  • Develop a continuous transfer of knowledge between research and training programmes.
  • Promote the development of different lines of research that generate social and economic impact regionally, nationally and internationally.
  • Promote the transfer of technology and knowledge through the dissemination of the results of the studies carried out at the University and cooperation with business and social stakeholders.
  • Promote the development of an R&D strategy - fundamentally applied - that generates added value and a notable contribution to the scientific community, capable of having an impact on social improvement.
  • Train researchers through doctorate programmes, supporting their integration into research groups.
  • Promote the development of the professional careers of teaching and research staff, promoting their growth.
Research support plan

A novel proposal has been defined for the promotion of the careers of teaching and research staff. The basic objective is to support and encourage the development of teaching staff, actively contributing to expanding their academic activity and progress in the accreditation system.

Research Support Office (RSO)

UTAMED aims to make the activity of research staff easier, supporting their work through the Research Support Office. Through the RSO, economic, technical and knowledge resources are channeled, to promote the development of the lines of research developed by the research groups.

Research groups

UTAMED research groups are autonomous units focused on the development of one or more lines of research. Their configuration involves the integration of senior professionals with a consolidated track record and junior staff looking to gain experience.

Lines of research

UTAMED aims to promote innovative lines of research, aligned with the training programmes offered. These lines are outlined based on the experience of the senior faculty assigned to this institution. This responds to the desire to enhance talent and offer the necessary resources to promote the careers of teachers.

The active lines of research are linked to the following fields:

  • Digital economy, data analysis, digitisation of the economy and business.
  • The knowledge economy and information society.
  • Health economy.
  • Educational technologies.
  • Digital ethics.
  • Connection between physical health and mental health.
  • Digital marketing.
  • Artificial intelligence and its applications.
  • Social sciences in the context of the digital economy/society
  • Digital law and data protection.
  • Journalism and communication in the context of the digital society.
UTAMED promotes the creation of research partnerships with national and foreign groups. Contact us if you think we can work together on joint projects.
We are open to working on new lines of research; tell us about your project.

Research support plan

A novel proposal has been defined for the promotion of the careers of teaching and research staff. The basic objective is to support and encourage the development of teaching staff, actively contributing to expanding their academic activity and progress in the accreditation system.

The bases of our proposed career plan are the following:

  • Automatic freeing-up of 50% of the working day for research tasks.
  • Stable teaching assignments and access to teaching in an official master's degree for profiles that meet the requirements.
  • Boost programme for junior academics, planned with the aim of designing measures to support the accreditation, development and consolidation of research lines.
  • Creation of the High Performance Centre for Research, which will integrate the most productive researchers. This centre will channel resources for the promotion of scientific production, the recruitment of strategic projects and achievements focused on obtaining accreditation to professorship. In addition to offering technical advice and managing the budget of the research plan itself, the Research Support
  • Office will provide support for the processing of projects, translations, advice on publication in renowned journals, statistical methodologies, etc.
  • Incentives plan linked to indexed publications, project recruitment and transfer development. UTAMED is the university of meritocracy, where talent is valued, recognised and rewarded.

Research Support Office

UTAMED aims to make the activity of research staff easier, supporting their work through the Research Support Office. The RSO serves to manage economic, technical and knowledge resources, promote the development of the lines of research developed by the research groups.

The ways in which the RSO supports the research staff are summarised in the following points:

  • Internal research plan: channels internal funds intended to finance calls for research projects, international stays, attendance at scientific meetings, development of events, payment of ACP, etc.
  • Raising funds in competitive competitions: advice on the definition of projects and the presentation of documentation in prestigious competitive competitions.
  • Support for the revision and translation of scientific texts: specialised professionals are responsible for raising the quality of the texts developed by the research staff.
  • Support in research dissemination tasks: as the communication of research results becomes increasingly important, the maximisation of impact is actively supported.
  • Administrative assistance for projects: with regard to the justification of expenses, development of administrative documentation, etc.
  • Support for the creation of research consortia: promotion and support for the development of alliances for research cooperation.
  • Research staff training: an annual internal training offer is made by the RSO, which is defined in collaboration with the research staff themselves and with external experts.

Research groups

UTAMED research groups are autonomous units focused on the development of one or more lines of research. Their configuration involves the integration of senior professionals with a consolidated track record and junior staff looking to gain experience.

We are currently working on the design of the research groups assigned to UTAMED. If you are interested in joining them, contact us using via this website.
