UTAMED University's Department of Research and Knowledge Transfer Support (DAIT, Spanish acronym) is a cornerstone of the university's approach to economic and social impact.
DAIT functions
- Bringing the knowledge generated through research into social and business contexts, responding to the needs society raises.
- Promoting channels for disseminating results beyond scientific publications, including social media, seminars, workshops, and conferences.
- Identifying public funding sources for collaborative activities between research groups and other organizations.
- Strengthening the relationship between the university, the business community, and the innovation ecosystem.
DAIT Objectives
Its general objectives in the area of knowledge transfer include:

Entrepreneurship Centre
UTAMED's headquarters are located in the Andalusia Technology Park in Málaga, the main technological hub in southern Europe. The UTAMED entrepreneurship centre is surrounded by cutting-edge technology companies.
Objectives of the entrepreneurship centre:
- Connect the research generated in UTAMED with the market
- Support projects promoted by the UTAMED faculty
- Involve students in entrepreneurship projects
- Generate university – company connections
- Support for external projects based on knowledge
We developed our transfer project with the aim of contributing to digitalisation and boosting the competitiveness of the economy, seeking to respond to the great challenges of our society.

B-KINETIC
Bridge Knowledge to Innovation: Entrepreneurial Training into HEI Communities
An international project funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) that advances entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability in higher education. Through collaboration among universities, companies, and European organizations, it promotes the development of entrepreneurial skills, knowledge transfer, and the creation of solutions with social and economic impact.
JOINETECH
International Journal of Economic and Technological Studies
An international scientific journal that brings research findings into the fields of entrepreneurship and economics, with particular attention to the challenges and opportunities presented by sustainable innovation. It examines strategies and practices for managing and applying innovation across different contexts, addressing the challenges of the technological era and their impact on economic decision-making, the transformation of industries, and the evolution of markets.
ACIEK-UTAMED 2026
Academy of Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Knowledge
An international conference bringing together researchers, academics, and professionals to share the latest advances in innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge management. The 2026 edition featured 25 editors from some of the most prestigious scientific journals and drew nearly 800 attendees, establishing itself as a leading forum for collaboration and knowledge transfer.
Javier Imbroda Research Projects
We have launched the first competitive call for the Javier Imbroda research projects, which attracted more than 28 applications involving 52 universities and research centers in Spain and abroad, and a total of 128 researchers.
Nine projects were ultimately selected in this first call.
Knowledge transfer and impact
One of the programs within UTAMED University's Institutional Research Plan is designed to bring the knowledge generated at the university into society and encourage its practical application. To that end, the university promotes various avenues of collaboration with the business community.
Research contracts
UTAMED University will host open sessions for companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, where research groups and research staff can present their work and findings. These meetings will also provide an opportunity to learn about the needs and challenges companies face, so that they can inform future research.
The university will also provide institutional and administrative support to facilitate securing knowledge transfer contracts, and will encourage faculty participation in these types of projects.
Corporate chairs
A space for collaboration between the university and the business sector, designed to bring academic programs closer to the needs of the labor market. Established in partnership with leading companies, these chairs help keep degree programs current and make education more applied and more closely tied to students' professional development.
The chairs will be created gradually, as opportunities for collaboration with companies arise. UTAMED University will build the structures needed to launch them and will develop a fundraising program linked to the initiative.
UTAMED University Spin-Offs
UTAMED University's close ties to the business and industrial community also translate into support for creating technology-based (EBT, Spanish acronym) and knowledge-based companies (EBC, Spanish acronym) from research results.
To facilitate the creation of these companies, the university will launch its own grant calls and provide guidance throughout the process of incorporation and formal recognition. This support may be direct or indirect, and the university may also take an equity stake in the spin-offs created.
