The Online University
of the 21st Century
The Atlantic Mediterranean Technological University (UTAMED) is a 100% online higher education institution created with the aim of bringing university education closer to the real demands of the labour market. It is based in the Malaga Technology Park, recognised as one of the main technological hubs in southern Europe and a strategic environment for innovation and entrepreneurship.
UTAMED has established itself as an open, technological and functional academic space, focused on educational excellence and the practical application of knowledge. Our methodology combines digital experience with an entrepreneurial vision, promoting training based on social, personal and entrepreneurial skills that favour employability and personal development.
The university maintains close collaboration with the business community and applied research, generating a constant flow of communication between the needs of companies, academic content and technological advances. This approach allows UTAMED to act as a meeting point between training, innovation and business, actively contributing to the transformation and competitiveness of society.
Campus structure
UTAMED's headquarters, covering an area of 7,000 m², is organised into four floors designed to promote collaboration, innovation and connection between the university community and the business environment. Each level integrates functional spaces that combine academic, research and administrative activities, reflecting the technological and open essence of the university.
Designed as a place for connection and socialising. It houses the auditorium, exhibition areas, cafeteria and staff meeting spaces. It also includes collaborative work areas, a library and the boardroom and lecture hall.
This floor is dedicated to academic and experimental activities. It houses the Health Sciences, Audiovisual and Social Sciences laboratories, as well as workspaces for visiting lecturers and classrooms for specific training activities.
This floor houses the offices of the administration and services staff (PTGAS). It is home to the marketing, sales, IT, labour and techno-pedagogy teams, among other departments that provide operational and strategic support to the entire university.
The top floor is dedicated to the development of business projects arising from university activity and knowledge transfer. This space promotes collaboration between research and the business community.
Some of our facilities
Laboratories
The university has three laboratories specialising in Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Audiovisual Sciences, designed to offer a practical and applied learning environment. With up-to-date equipment and innovative methodologies, these laboratories bring students closer to the professional environments of the sector and encourage research and experimentation.
Health Sciences Laboratories
The Health Area laboratories are equipped with advanced technology for practical activities, clinical simulations and applied research projects in the fields of nutrition, psychology and health sciences. These are organised into four laboratories.
Laboratory 1: Anatomy, Histology and Body Assessment
A multipurpose space that can be adapted as needed in different rooms.
- Anatomy, Morphology and Histology Room: equipped with tables with power outlets, computers, digital whiteboards, projectors, microscopes, anatomical simulators and display cases for specialised material.
- Nutrition and Dietetic Consultation Unit: equipped with bioimpedance, anthropometric equipment, calorimeter, hydrogen test, biochemical analysers, examination table and audiovisual equipment, recreating the environment of a professional consultation.
- Laboratory 2: Biology, Microbiology and Microscopy
It has sturdy furniture, safety systems and gas extraction systems. It has microscopes (LCD and binocular), pH meters, spectrophotometers, ELISA reader, autoclave, refrigerated centrifuge, electrophoresis equipment, oven, fume hood and consumables. It also includes safety devices such as eye wash stations and ventilation systems.
- Laboratory 3: Chemistry, Biochemistry and Bromatology
With a similar structure to the previous laboratory, this laboratory is geared towards the chemical and nutritional analysis of food. It incorporates equipment such as Kjeldahl, Soxhlet, muffle furnace, Ultraturrax, thermostatic bath, water activity equipment, oven/incubator and complete laboratory supplies.
- Laboratory 4: Culinary Skills and Food Technology
This space is dedicated to practical training in professional cooking and food analysis. It has an oven, ceramic hobs, blast chiller, cold room, dishwasher, vacuum machine, sinks, washbasins and 15 culinary work stations. It also includes an adjoining area for organoleptic analysis and audiovisual projection, promoting the integration of culinary technique and food science.
Social Sciences Laboratory
UTAMED's Social Sciences Laboratory consists of spaces designed for data analysis, social simulation and experimentation in virtual environments. Equipped with statistical software, modelling tools and qualitative and quantitative research platforms, it enables students and teaching staff to develop projects aimed at understanding social, educational, economic and cultural phenomena from a critical and interdisciplinary perspective.
In addition, this area includes workspaces for faculty and visiting experts, along with multipurpose classrooms for workshops, seminars and training activities. Taken together, it represents UTAMED's commitment to an open, collaborative and technologically advanced university that integrates methodological innovation with practical training and the connection between people and ideas.
Audiovisual Laboratory
UTAMED's Audiovisual Laboratory consists of creative and technological spaces designed for practical training in digital communication, interactive media, and multimedia production. It comprises a recording booth with its corresponding sound and image studio, lighting sets, professional cameras, advanced editing systems, and specialised software for audiovisual production and digital design, offering students a professional learning environment.
In these laboratories, students can design, produce and edit digital content adapted to different formats, from videos and podcasts to scientific dissemination materials or corporate communication. In addition, they encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and communicative innovation, integrating creativity, technology and critical thinking in the development of essential skills for today's digital society.
Library
The UTAMED Library is a key resource for teaching, research and learning, geared towards the needs of the entire university community. Its collection focuses on high-quality digital resources, with access to more than 9,000 scientific journals and 87,000 e-books, as well as databases and specialised tools. It combines technological innovation with open access to knowledge, promoting the academic and professional development of students and teaching staff. Among the digital resources available are:
Mobility and Internationalisation
At UTAMED, we promote academic mobility and international cooperation as pillars of personal, professional and cultural growth within our university community. Through the use of digital technologies, we foster educational experiences that connect our students with other institutions and educational contexts, promoting diversity, innovation and global learning.
UTAMED is currently working on the design of an institutional mobility programme that will enable agreements to be established with national and international universities and organisations. As part of this process, the university will move forward in obtaining the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE), a key step in participating in the Erasmus+ programme and strengthening collaboration with other higher education institutions.
This commitment to internationalisation seeks to open up new opportunities for learning, exchange and development, consolidating UTAMED as a university connected to the world and committed to the global education of its students.
