Primary Education Modules

The online Primary Education Degree programme at UTAMED offers comprehensive, up-to-date training in the field of teaching, combining a solid pedagogical foundation with a practical and innovative approach. Throughout the four academic years, you will take teaching modules focused on child development, active methodologies, attention to diversity and teaching the main areas of the curriculum.

In addition, you will develop key teaching skills and learn how to use digital tools applied to education. Primary Teaching Modules: Practical Training

The UTAMED Primary Education Degree includes compulsory external academic practical training worth a total of 44 ECTS credits, which is carried out during the last three years of the degree. These work placements take place in schools and educational centres with which we have partnerships nationwide, although you can also suggest a centre that interests you, provided that it is feasible to formalise an agreement.

This experience will enable you to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting, gain a close understanding of how the classroom works, and develop key teaching skills. In addition, you will have the support of an academic tutor and a work tutor who will supervise your progress and guide you through your training process, which provides a valuable opportunity for professional growth within the education system.

If you are studying a specific specialisation, Practicum III will be carried out in accordance with that specialisation, so that the practical experience is aligned with your training.

Primary Teaching modules: Final Degree Project

The FP, with 6 ECTS credits, allows students to apply the knowledge they have acquired in a research or educational intervention project, delving deeper into key areas of primary teaching modules.

Specializations in Primary Education

Specialisation in ICT and Educational Innovation

The Specialisation in ICT and Educational Innovation offers specialisation in innovative methodologies and the use of technology in teaching. Within this specialisation, primary school modules include the use of digital tools, project-based learning and strategies for integrating ICT into the classroom. It is strongly recommended but entirely optional to obtain this specialisation. To do so, you must choose and complete the following modules:

  • New Technologies for Learning (6 ECTS credits - 3rd year, 5th semester)
  • ICT Applied to Language Learning (6 ECTS credits - 4th year, 7th semester)
  • ICT Applied to Mathematics (6 ECTS credits - 4th year, 7th semester)
  • ICT Applied to Natural Sciences (6 ECTS credits - 4th year, 7th semester)
  • Practical Training III specific to the specialisation (24 ECTS credits - 4th year, 8th semester)

English Language Specialisation

The English Language Specialisation of UTAMED's Primary Education Degree provides specialisation in teaching English as a foreign language. Within this specialisation, teaching modules cover methodologies for language acquisition, bilingual teaching strategies and the development of communicative competence in the classroom. Obtaining this certification is highly recommended but entirely optional. To do this, you must choose and take the following modules:

  • CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) (6 ECTS credits - 4th year, 7th semester)
  • Listening and Speaking Skills (6 ECTS credits - 4th year, 7th semester)
  • Reading and Writing Skills (6 ECTS credits - 4th year, 7th semester)
  • Advanced Didactics (6 ECTS credits - 4th year, 7th semester)
  • Practical Training III specific to the specialisation (24 ECTS credits - 4th year, 8th semester)

Specialisation in Physical Education

The Specialisation in Physical Education offers specialisation in the development of motor skills and the teaching of physical activity in schools. The modules in the primary teaching degree in this specialisation include planning physical activities, promoting healthy habits and integrating physical activity into the educational curriculum. Obtaining this certification is highly recommended but entirely optional. To do this, you must choose and take the following modules:

  • Psychomotor development: body image and perception; motor skills (6 ECTS credits - 4th year, 7th semester)
  • Play and sports activities: theory and practice (6 ECTS credits - 4th year, 7th semester)
  • Anatomical, physiological and psychological foundations of physical education (6 ECTS credits - 4th year, 7th semester)
  • Physical condition and health in the physical education classroom (6 ECTS credits - 4th year, 7th semester)
